The effects of canine fetal and adult testes and testicular tumors on reproductive tracts from 14.5 day old rat fetuses cultured in vitro were investigated. Müllerian inhibiting activity (MIA) was found in fetal canine testes, confirming the lack of species specificity of the Müllerian inhibiting substance. Adult testes and testicular tumors were unable to produce regression of Müllerian ducts. The disappearance of the MIA in the adult testes in vitro contrasted with an active secretion of testosterone. The absence of the MIA in the testicular tumors, including sertolinomas is discussed.
