Stimulation of Endogenous RNA Polymerase I Activity in the Mouse Oocyte after PMSG Treatment

The pattern of RNA synthesis in oocytes of the mouse ovary changes after administration of pregnant mare serum gonadotropin. The activities of endogenous, nucleolar RNA polymerases increase, specifically in multilaminar, preantral follicles. This effect is not mediated through an increase in estrogen production.
