The first three papers in this issue of Biology of Reproduction are minireviews derived from talks delivered at the 33rd Annual Meeting of the Society for the Study of Reproduction (SSR) (15–18 July 2000) at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI. The talks comprised a minisymposium, "Selection and Maintenance of the Dominant Follicle," organized by Dr. Joanne E. Fortune. All three minireviews were subjected to the same standards of peer review as all papers published in the journal.
