COVER:
"Immunolocalization and Regulation of Cystatin 12 in Mouse Testis and Epididymis" by Ying Li,
Crystal A. Putnam-Lawson, Heather Knapp-Hoch, Patrick J. Friel, Debra Mitchell, Randy Hively, and
Michael D. Griswald (Biology of Reproduction 73:872–880, 2005).
Cystatin 12 is a cystatin-related gene highly expressed in testis and epididymis. Longitudinal section of the mouse epididymis was incubated with
the anti-Cystatin12 antibody followed by incubation with a secondary antibody conjugated to peroxidase. Red
color developed using AEC substrate referred to immunolocalization of Cystatin 12 protein. This article
documents that Cystatin 12 is localized to the cytoplasm of Sertoli cells in a stage-dependent manner and the
cytoplasm of the epithelial cells in the proximal caput epididymis. It also showed that Cystatin 12 is localized
to the cytoplasmic droplets in both testicular and epididymal spermatozoa.
